GreenWashing
Greenwashing is a recent phenomenon that profits off the desire for eco-friendly products. Greenwashing is defined as marketing a product as if it is ecological to mislead consumers into buying it. An example of this would be Clorox making a new line of cleaners titled Green Works. It appears these products would be more eco-friendly, but after researching the ingredients, they contain chemicals that cause acute and chronic water toxicity. A way of identifying green washed products is by using websites or apps like ewg.org or GoodGuide. These services give ratings to different household products for their safety for humans and the environment.
